A Spotlight on Human Trafficking
The United States, along with Mexico and the Philippines, was ranked one of the world's worst places for human trafficking in 2018. In the US, there is no official number of human trafficking victims, but estimates place it in the hundreds of thousands. The most human trafficking cases have been reported in California, Texas, and Florida. Orange County is a prime destination for trafficking. Perpetrators know they can sell their victims for sex acts at a higher price than anywhere else in California. Anyone’s child can be trafficked regardless of class, education or gender when forcefully coerced or lured by false promises.
It's estimated that globally there are between 20 million and 40 million people in modern slavery today.
